ST. JOHN'S HITMEN CAPTURE NFLD U15AAA TITLE

After a successful regular season, the Eastern Hitmen were excited to begin the U15AAA Provincial Championships being held in Bishop’s Falls, NL
The Hitmen got off to a solid start with an 8-1 victory over the TriPen Ice, and they ended day #1 of the tournament with a dominant 5-0 win over the host Central Ice.
This set up a day #2 showdown with the Eastern Thunder with the winner advancing directly to Sunday’s Championship Game. In an exciting game, the Hitmen led 2-1 heading into the third period where coach Bray’s confidence in all three lines paid dividends as the Hitmen scored 5 unanswered third-period goals to take a 7-1 victory.
The Eastern Thunder won their semi-final game setting up a re-match between the league’s top two teams in the Championship Game. The Hitmen and Thunder were tied 1-1 heading into the third period, but the Hitmen scored an early goal in the period on a partial breakaway, and from there they were able to lock it down to earn a 2-1 victory and the Provincial Championship.
The Eastern Hitmen are excited to represent NFLD at the U15 Atlantic Championship in Oleary, PEI, later this month.
